Diversity and Inclusion.
Science is about doing. Not everyone has the opportunity to "do." This really bothers me, so I help where I can. Doesn't matter if you're a boy or girl. Brown, white, yellow, or green. You can be a K-12 student or grad student. Learning about and appreciating science is a passion I want everyone to share. Here's some highlights of my work with the Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) community in the Portland metropolitan area, as well as my time with other minority serving institutions across the country.

Over the last few years my focus has been on community outreach. I am also the Chair of my agency's Western Region Diversity Council. This crossover has inspired me to increase my engagement with a variety of organizations, clubs, schools, and events serving underrepresented youth. I have worked with Rosemary Anderson High School, KairosPDX, Portland State University (Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation), Portland Community College (STEM), Hillsboro school district (STEAM), Franklin High School, and Arleta Elementary School. I've also attended and mentored at events such as the Society for Advancement of Chicanos and Native American Students (SACNAS) national meeting and the Black Parent Initiative S.T.E.A.M. Xplosion 2015.
Science is done by doers. It doesn't matter where you come from. It's about where you want to go.
